I made california rolls at 1am. It took me literally 10 minutes, and what a mess! But it still tasted like california rolls!
It's so hard to cut...the seawood always seems to "cling" to the knife and the avocado oozes out all over the place!

ReplyDeleteLove california rolls! Did you try 'cleaning' the knife with a vinegar-soaked kitchen towel before cutting? The rice and stuff won't stick as much :-)

my fave grocery store sells beautiful fresh sushi they make in store every day - including a few different california rolls - one with brown rice which somehow has the same texture as the white rice one
every now and then I grab a box for a snack
at 8 pieces for $5 I SHOULD try to make my own!!! it HAS to be a million times cheaper that way
I can understand it's so hard to cut makizushi.

ReplyDeleteheyy, nice sushi! what a nice snack! when cutting, I have to wet/clean my knife after each 1/3 roll in order to keep the nori crisp. and perhaps your avocado is too ripe? anyways, looks don't matter since sushi is amazing in any form!!! : )
