Nordstrom Cafe

Did anyone know that Nordstrom had a dining cafe? I think I fell in love with it last night!
It's a self-serve, order and bring to table style of cafe, but there are people who bring your bread and refill your water.

I ordered the shrimp and asparagus risotto- it was delicious! But the portion was so small (in my opinion), I could have had 2 plates...

And then I went for the creme brulee.

Do you see the vanilla bean specks? I think I would have been freaking out if I didn't know what vanilla bean was. I only found out about it 9 years ago :P

Pizza Pizza!

Did anyone miss me while I was gone on my post-summer break? I just wanted to share with you a fun pizza story....it's pretty long, so stay with me :-)

The husband found a new pizza place, so we definitely had to check it out (being the self-proclaimed pizza lovers we are). We checked out the yelp reviews and recommendations and decided to get these fried risotto balls.

Which were balls of heaven with little pieces of mozarella inside.........droool
I was going to get the vongole pizza, and because I get flustered when approached with a menu, I always try to decide what I'm going to order beforehand through their homepage. But our waitress says they are out of cockles...........so I look through the menu and just randomly choose anything that has prociutto. The husband orders the margherita (because he's boring, or "original" as he puts it).

A different waiter brings us our food, and ta-da! there are meatballs on both of them! Husband asks the waiter "Is this margherita pizza?" And the waiter nods and gives a "No-duh, that's what you ordered dummy"-look. In the meantime, I am busy quickly snapping away photos with Mr. P (I must admit, I take photos of Mr. P at the speed of light because of the embarassment...)

My pizza has prosciutto~ I definitely ordered the right one! But I open it and it has meatballs...so I tell my husband that the chef must love his meatballs. While I try to slice open my pizza, our waitress comes to us and says that there was a mix up and that these pizza are not ours, but the couple sitting right next to us...........I can't stop laughing, and we apologize to the couple for attacking their pizzas, and they laugh it off too~ We really felt so stupid because the couple (not the chef) both loved the meatballs so much that they had placed an extra topping order of it.

This is our actual pizza -but my pizza didn't look anything like the one I got before because the prosciutto was "prosciutto cotto" not "prosciutto di parma".

But the husband's was just sans meatball. Less embarassing for him since he even asked the waiter! And yes, the first pizza was margherita, just with extra meatballs.

Our waitress was really nice and asked us if we would like to take the first pizzas home, so of course we had to bring it back with us, and the leftover pizza too. What a feast!

Olympics

Did everyone enjoy the olympics? I sure did! I just wanted to share these photos of "not impressed" spectators:

Not impressed with the King of Sweden yelling in ear...

Look at the guy behind Aly Raisman's dad...

Tells him (with his hands) to sit down so he can watch

Hilarious :)

chipmunk

Hello! I've been abandoning my blog lately, and it's all because of Alvin. I've been too busy watching the Alvin and the chipmunks series.

And it all started with this picture....

So cute isn't it?? My friend sent it to me and we were saying how the camera man must have waited forever to get this shot!

doritos tacos

Have you tried the taco bell doritos tacos? I have heard horror stoires about taco bell, so I don't eat it too  much, but after seeing the ad for this (yes, advertisements do work) we took a "road trip" to the drive thru.

The outside shell is cheesy doritos- how clever!

Affogato

Starbucks is having frappucino happy hour from 3-5 - of course I couldn't pass! I tried the vanilla bean frap since I've been enjoying the flavor very much because of this:

Remember my blueberry crumble post? Move over blueberry crumble! My our new favorite flavor is vanilla bean espresso. It's a mix of vanilla ice cream with an espresso swirl tasting like affogato. so so so good!

For those who are wondering, Mr. P was missing so his good friend Mr. Tomato filled in for him :)

Coke and Ipoop

When I opened my soda shelf the other day, I saw rings of stickiness on the bottome of my soda cans. At first I thought a can was leaking but I soon found out that it was this 2L coke that was letting itself loose.

Look how much of it is gone! Yet the cap is still unopened....

Just wanted to share this hilarious toilet bowl shaped like a Mac apple. It's called the Ipoop!

Hakata Ramen

Over the weekend, the hubs took me to a ramen place that he had found online. Hakata ramen is one of my favorite foods and is very hard to make and find in the US. There was an incredible wait time, but I was beaming the whole time!
The place was owned by a taiwanese chef, so we started out with the apple sidra.

Of course, we had to order the pan fried pork dumplings.

And the ramen!!!! I actually ordered extra noodles :) So so so good!

Kabob!

The hubs loves Kabob, so we visited a new kabob house last week. Before the kabob came out they gave us some bread (?), a pickle/spice/jalapeno dipping relish, butter, and a raw egg to pour over the rice.
The bread came in a ziploc bag.....and the dip in a plastic container (this was a restaurant). But I didn't mind since we brought it home with the leftovers- very convenient!

I got the chicken and the hubs got the kubideh. The rice was massive! I was wondering why they had so much butter on the table, but after peeping around at other tables, it was for the rice...tastes 1000000 times better with butter in it :) Doesn't everything?
